Morning All,
Although I lurk here and enjoy the discussions, most don't apply directly to my position or experience. This is a question I can relate to and share about. I hire Document Scan Operators. Most of the people I interview do not have Scan experience as it is an entry level position. But attention to detail is as a primary requirement.
I have a "Personality Profile" test that I use. I don't actually score the test as I've found results are skewed by what people think you want to hear. What I do pay attention to is the ability to follow directions. During the explanation of the test, I tell the applicant (at least twice) what I expect. The directions are also printed on the top of the test form. For each set of 4 personality traits, the person is supposed to pick the 1 that is most like them and the 1 that is least like them. Even among people claiming Scan experience, I find that about half cannot follow those simple instructions. They may have a wonderful resume and interview well but if they can't attend to the detail of this simple task, I know they will not be a good fit for the job.
