Another interesting question.
It remind me something that I learn almost 10 years ago.
I tried to find the case, but no luck.
I found something relevant from Boeing that may be of interest for RM people:

"2.7 Records.
The SQPP shall specify that the Seller shall prepare and maintain records of software quality program activities required by the contract. The Plan shall provide that records shall be maintained on file and available for Buyer review for ten (10) years after final payment under the contract. At any time during the retention period, at Buyer's request,
Seller shall deliver said records, or any part thereof, to Buyer at no additional cost to Buyer and, as a minimum include"

I tried to find the document about Boeing's request from suppliers to keep records for 60 years after end of the contract.
With Best Wishes in New 2011 year,

Thanks, Pilar and Peter.  Many vendors are pushing back and only want to
keep the records in question two or three years max, then dispose of them.
I'm interested in finding out if anyone has created clauses that require
the vendor to just send the records back to the company, rather than take
the risk that the vendor may not keep the records as stated, or that some
other breach may occur.
