Tom got my number on this one. Everyone in RIM and even our IT folk
know that back-ups do not an archive make. They just don't want the
buck to stop with them in the decision process. So I am pushing to get
that decision made by getting the right people in the mix. That means
some of the business owners too.
I think Tom's comment that "keeping the backup tapes for seven years may
offer them a general timeline after which old tapes might be destroyed"
is valid. I will be happy with baby steps as long as they are going in
the right direction.
Back-up tapes have been a thorn in my side for a long time. Thanks to
everyone for your responses.
