You should review the laws in your particular state to see whether this is 
permitted or not. The Government Accountability Office has published a 
list of state laws restricting the use of Social Security numbers 
available at www.gao.gov/new.items/d051016t.pdf

Many people share the last 4 digits of their SSN.
