Email destruction policy revealed in hacking case
NEWS Corporation executives in Britain, facing phone-hacking allegations
against the *News of the World*, ordered the systematic deletion of
hundreds of thousands of emails to keep them from surfacing in lawsuits,
records show.
A 2009 draft of its deletion policy said the practice would eliminate
e-mails that ''could be unhelpful in the context of future litigation''
against the company's News International unit, according to court papers
released by a judge yesterday to Britain's* Daily Telegraph*.
