Gary does make a point that I wondered about - what does a hacker hope to accomplish by hacking LinkedIn? Does anyone have bank information or social security numbers on ther profile?  Maybe home address?  I don't have any of that on mine.  If someone feels the urge, though, they are more than welcome to tweek my profile. 
 
As for dogs, I am also an adoptive parent of an orphan dog. Mine is a Pomeranian/Chihuahua, so she is not much of a deterent - although at least two people in my rental community apparently are terrified of her - seriously!
