The next session of Records Management training offered by the iSchool
Institute, Faculty of Information, University of Toronto will start
mid-September.  The first course starts on September 14 - space is still

Records Management Fundamentals TORONTO

This certificate program provides a well-rounded introduction to the value
and theory of records management and the basic skills of the profession in
records inventory, retention scheduling, classification, storage, and in
planning and managing a records management program. This certificate program
provides the basics that people need when working with records whether they
are just getting into the field and have no prior knowledge or are currently
records management practitioners without formal training who wish to
strengthen their knowledge and understanding.

Records Management Practice TORONTO
Fridays, Nov 9 - Dec 7 2012; 9AM-4PM
Instructors: Sheila Taylor, Caroline Werle, and Chrstine Ardern
Fee: $225.00 per course or $1125.00 for all 5 courses

Certificate RMP or as stand-alone

This program focuses on the challenges facing the records management
profession to effectively manage electronic records and to respond to the
many forces in a changing information and business environment. The program
begins with a consideration of laws affecting records management, and
specifically describes the process for researching legislation to determine
retention periods. Subsequent classes examine the major components in
managing the electronic information of an organization and will provide an
understanding of what is involved in developing and managing an electronic
records management program and the role of records management in enterprise
content management. Trends affecting the practice of records management in a
changing environment are discussed in the closing course.

The program expands upon the material covered in the Fundamentals
certificate program and is directed towards individuals who have either
completed the Fundamentals program or can demonstrate equivalent knowledge
through their work history. Instructor in the Practice program will assume
that students are already conversant with the topics covered in the
Fundamentals program.
