not really but you bring up a point that the Putnam County clerk alluded to
when he mentioned that the NY law was implemented 30 years ago. since that
time we've seen a tremendous change in how information/records are created,
captured and maintained. Such laws should be reviewed on a regular basis.
We are now more concerned about the protection of PID then we were 30 years
ago when it was much more difficult to get that information which started
with a trip down to the records building.

I understand where you're coming from with regards to providing the
records, but put yourself in the place of the Putnam county clerk who has
received a request for the list of gun permit owners for his county. he
knows that the paper requesting the information will just publish the list
because it can since it has already done it for two other counties. Knowing
that there will be a cry of outrage from the public if the information is
released is there not a moral duty to protect law abiding citizens personal
information?
