Good morning, dear Colleagues!

I took the Information Governance Professional exam on Friday morning. It
was a very good experience. I felt like it tested what I do now. It is not a
replacement for the CRM, the PMP, etc. because it tests precisely what it
says it tests-information governance, not records management or project
management. The DACUM provided is very precise and maps well to the test.

The sample reading list was really helpful in preparing for the exam. They
are worth reviewing even if you are not going to take the test, particularly
the technical reports published over the last decade.

One of the best parts about being one of the guinea pigs is that I got to
comment on the questions. That was lots of fun! They are still working out
some kinks, so I hope my comments are helpful in terms of wording and
perspective. I did have to go through and edit my responses-I get excited
way too easily.

After taking the test I would encourage all of my peers to take it-that
means you listserv members! As certification tests go, it is incredibly
inexpensive. You can take it in a single morning. It does not require a
boatload of paperwork like the PMP when documenting your experience takes
days.

Being part of the initial psychometric testing also means that you get to
have input into the final exam.

Best wishes!

Carol
