Aloha All,

I agree with Fred's assessment regarding "garbage in, garbage out"...What few people realize except for "seasoned folks", the same principles that applied to microfilming carries over to document scanning. The goal is perfectly scanned images with "perfect" indexing (aka metadata). Unfortunately, when you use devices not specifically designed for "production" or dedicated scanning, you run the risk of poorly scanned images or improper indexing. You'll find a "mixed bag" of scanned images which will require "corrective measures" which may discount all that you've gained by implementing remote capture.

The most ideal situation is to NOT create paper, so you don't need to convert a document into a digital image...Yeah, I know it costs money, yada...yada...yada, but you're only delaying the desired results by having to resort to scanning...

Just my opinion...

Brian

If you just want to shove the paper through a machine, the old dictum applies: "garbage in, garbage out".

Best regards,
