So let's summarise.
MFCs are good for:
1. Organisations that “frankly, … don’t give a damn” about the quality and value of their records (Rhett Butler, in “Gone with the Wind”, a classic quotation), and
2. Organisations that care enough about the quality and value of their records that they are willing and able to invest the time, effort, and resources to set up a properly-configured conversion process.
I’ll ignore no. 1.
For number 2, why wouldn’t these organisations go the extra step—totally minor, by comparison with the job of setting up a good process—of buying decent-quality scanners?
