Oh yeah, I know that's the claim... but it's also not cheap to close a
facility... AND they could operate it under a limited hours/days schedule.

It wasn't that long ago they were moving infrequently/rarely accessed
holdings to places like this that were under utilized as a means of
"balancing the load"... heck, others in CA were seeing their stuff shipped
to Seatle and Denver, if you draw a circle, is AK THAT much further?

Granted, researchers are one reason to manage/maintain a NARA facility, but
if they are an FRC and there are "FRs" to be stored that are being shipped
to one or another facility, why not this one?  I haven't seen hard numbers,
but I think we ALL KNOW there are way more FRs at risk in commercial
facilities than there should be... and at one time or another, you and I
will be paying the Permanent Removal Fees for those records.
