I would tend to avoid the use of "Active" in a retention schedule and
instead use triggers such as "superseded". Using "active" in an ERMS is
problematic whereas trigger events (superseded, terminated, cancelled,
project end, etc) can be used as metadata associated with the trigger event
date to launch disposition. Spent a lot of time with customers trying to
define "active" and when it ended.
