asked Peggy Valcke to sit on panel advising the company on how to balance
free speech and privacy, the law-school professor had a condition: The
right to disagree with the final report.

“Being an academic, and cherishing very much my independence as an academic
expert, this was my first question,” she said. “Will it be a Google report
and will it be just one view? They assured that this will be a report of
the committee, and it will leave scope for different views being expressed.”
