BBC - Information & Archives - Archiving BBC Online In the last couple of months the BBC has been celebrating the success of 20 years of BBC Online <http://www.bbc.co.uk/timelines/zpwy87h>. Many have asked how BBC Online has been archived over the years. The good news is that it’s been archived comprehensively, through a number of different approaches. The key has been in working with institutions like The British Library's UK Web Archive <http://www.webarchive.org.uk/ukwa/> and The National Archives's Online Web Archive <http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/webarchive/>, through sharing knowledge and ensuring consistency in standards, particularly around the international web archive standard WARC. <http://www.digitalpreservation.gov/formats/fdd/fdd000236.shtml> This improves the ability to share online resources with each other in the future. This has led the BBC to adopt a more focused and widely accepted method of web archiving called crawling. http://bbc.in/SbtSJD Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/informationandarchives/archivenews/2014/archiving_bbc_online.html See if people are clicking on this link: http://bbc.in/SbtSJD+ Try the bitly.com sidebar to see who is talking about a page on the web: https://bitly.com/pages/sidebar List archives at http://lists.ufl.edu/archives/recmgmt-l.html Contact [log in to unmask] for assistance To unsubscribe from this list, click the below link.
