Karen Heraldo said,
You know - coming from Canada while on a visit to Tennessee the first time I heard the tornado-warning siren down there it as a little bit frightening. The cool calm collected way in which the Tennessee natives responded helped alleviate any of my concerns.

It definitely becomes a habit or should be thanks to all the practice. I am sure I am not the only person from the Midwest US on the listserv worn out this week from the weather. Thankfully, we missed out on the baseball sized hail in my area but I could have done without the 60 mph straight-line winds and local flooding.

I remember growing up as a kid in the Midwest how even the cat knew when it was time to go to the basement. The dog was usually waiting at the bottom of the basement stairs thanks to the hail and thunder.

As for storm chasers, I think most people from the Midwest know better. Those that don't "Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it." Besides, in the Midwest there is no need to chase storms. The storms enthusiastically chase you.

Here's hoping for quiet and safe weather for the weekend!
