We have a classification system and retention schedule in place, but need
to update the citations and retention research.
I haven't done anything like this before and am hoping to get some tips on
methodology.
We have Retention manager 3 and Filelaw but I am not sure the best or most
effective way to use them.

Only look at your industry sector?

Stephanie,
Your classification scheme may provide an organizing framework in which to
conduct your search - either that or a functional breakdown of your
business. So you could address one function at a time as a potential
methodology. You would not confine your search to only your industry
sector, but also include other general corporate regulatory areas: HR,
payroll, labor, EEO, tax, employee safety (OSHA), benefits/ERISA, etc.,
etc.
