D.C. Federal Judge Examines IRS Email Controversy | Legal Times
Sullivan on Thursday ordered lawyers for the government to produce a
declaration by Aug. 10 signed under oath by an IRS official addressing the
Lois Lerner email issue—the judge said he would purposefully leave that
category broad. He said the declaration should also include how the
government could recover information contained in the lost emails.
The court’s inquiry won’t stop there. Sullivan said he would ask U.S.
Magistrate Judge John Facciola to oversee discussions between Judicial
Watch and the government. Facciola, Sullivan noted, is an expert on
electronic-discovery issues.
