"It is different, she says as a federal agency employee and records manager.
We do not recognize the CRM but instead have our own NARA cert, each
agency/entity has their own twist on retention schedules, and of course we
love to have forms, forms, forms!!! There is no standard data management
system within my own agency much less across the government...should I go
on????".

I guess I missed this original post, so I don't have the entire context of
what was said, but I disagree to an extent with the above statement. I
believe that Records Management is basically the same. We all have
different regulations to abide by that are specific to our industry, and
perhaps the Federal Government may have more. What may be one of the major
differences is that we are a public entity and the records we maintain
belong to the people, therefore, our records are (or should be) more
accessible to the public, but Records Management is Records Management.

I have been a records manager in the Federal Government for over 25 years.
I am a CRM, and although it is not required by the Federal Government my
organization does recognize it. I also have been through the NARA program.
They will tell you that their program is not a certification that will
entitle you to put initials after your name, as the ICRM does with the CRM.
My certificate from the NARA program states: "Certificate of Federal
Records Management Training".

My .01/2 cents worth.
