State Archives Clogged With Gubernatorial Records and No Culling Allowed | KQED News Fix When he was governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger loved to talk about boxes. “Every governor proposes moving boxes around to reorganize government. I don’t want to move boxes around. I want to blow them up,” he said in his 2004 State of the State address. But now, state archivists are moving around thousands of Schwarzenegger’s boxes — 3,871 of them, to be exact. That’s how much space the Schwarzenegger administration’s records take up at the California State Archive <http://www.sos.ca.gov/archives/>s in Sacramento. And he’s not alone. Beginning with Gov. Pete Wilson, the state became the chief custodian of gubernatorial records. California’s last three governors created so much paperwork that these boxes now fill up 10 percent of California’s entire archival warehouse. http://bit.ly/1oXTcR0 Source: http://blogs.kqed.org/newsfix/2014/08/01/state-archives-clogged-gubernatorial-records-no-culling-allowed/?__utma=34673459.1438279354.1404580513.1404580513.1406949477.2&__utmb=34673459.5.10.1406949477&__utmc=34673459&__utmx=-&__utmz=34673459.1404580513.1.1.utmcsr=(direct)|utmccn=(direct)|utmcmd=(none)&__utmv=-&__utmk=139767473 See if people are clicking on this link: http://bit.ly/1oXTcR0+ Try the bitly.com sidebar to see who is talking about a page on the web: https://bitly.com/pages/sidebar -- Peter Kurilecz CRM CA IGP [log in to unmask] Dallas, Texas Save our in-boxes! http://emailcharter.org http://twitter.com/RAINbyte http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/RAINbyte/ http://paper.li/RAINbyte/rainbyte https://groups.google.com/d/forum/archives-in-the-news http://pinterest.com/pakurilecz/archives/ http://pinterest.com/pakurilecz/records-management/ http://www.linkedin.com/in/peterakurilecz #*CantbeworsethanPeterk* <https://twitter.com/hashtag/CantbeworsethanPeterk?src=hash> Information not relevant for my reply has been deleted to reduce the electronic footprint and to save the sanity of digest subscribers List archives at http://lists.ufl.edu/archives/recmgmt-l.html Contact [log in to unmask] for assistance To unsubscribe from this list, click the below link.
