Most of the better Schools of Library Science now call themselves iSchools and are much more focused on electronic information than printed books.  My experience in North America is that Records Management is the broader category and archivist is a more specialized subsection.  It is totally opposite in the Commonwealth Countries, where Archivist is the broader category and record management is a specialist subs As I have stated earlier, three events are taking place that effect the career field.  There is a real shortage of CRM's, there is a surge of new open government and health record management positions, there are a lot of unemployed people that have some related work experience that are getting hired as record managers. Salaries for records positions have gone up significantly in North America but are still low in Europe. Employers hired the best qualified people they can, but in some cases you hire good talent and train them.
