I meant to send my response to Chris to the LIstServ. I am still learning the ins and outs of the ListServ
He commented something about Archivist not needing degrees and I responded.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for your response. I am just commenting on my limited experience, every Archivist that I have known has held an MLS/MLS. The job postings I see for Archivist require the degree. And the field is quite competitive according to my library friends who concentrated on archival studies.
For the record, I don’t think the degree is necessary for entry into the RM field. I am just saying that having a library background it helps me with such topics as metadata, classification schemes, taxonomies, etc. I am learning most everything for RM by self study and the ListServ of course.
Best,
Lisa
