Hi Tyrene,
I recently took a Coursera class on Metadata. During this class there was
an interview with Steve Hogan who works with Pandora Music Operations on
something they call the Music Genome Project.

I found this note that I made while listening to the interview:

"What are some of the unsolved problems in creating a good channel? Clear
descriptions of the songs and making finer resolutions i.e. rhythm, how to
capture a melody?, identify the note sequences? "

This may be what you are trying to achieve?

Thanks,

Mary
