I work at Home Depot part time and I had to laugh yesterday when several customers asked if our computers were "now safe" as they mindlessly used their credit card without even waiting for my answer... which was,
"We thought they WERE safe before." Or "how could we possibly ever promise any computer or person is 'safe'?" Or "they have taken appropriate actions to do their best to ensure your information is safe."
These were 'my' answers, not anything official from HD, of course.

To HD's credit, they really do their best to take care of not only customers, but also their employees AND the community including veterans. They have a program called 'the homer fund' that helps community members get back on their feet after disaster or other setbacks. I've heard some pretty amazing stories of the difference they've made in people's lives (for the better). We also had our success sharing event yesterday where they passed out profit sharing checks... which surprised me in the wake of this unforeseen expense to the company.
