After public records vanish, Ed FitzGerald won't say if he'll perform
broader review | cleveland.com
Byrd's report indicates that her investigators were hampered in their
attempt to document when FitzGerald drove county vehicles because county
officials could not produce the log showing who checked out vehicles
assigned to the executive's office during 2012.
Matt Carroll, FitzGerald's chief of staff, told investigators it was
rumored the records may have been destroyed during the move to the new
county headquarters, which opened in July, according to the report. Carroll
said he believed the records may have been destroyed to avoid having to
move them to the new building.
