The records retention on Open Records Requests in Texas is one year for requests that have been fulfilled, two years for requests that are exempt from Open Records law.

My question is: Do I have to retain an Open Records Request and the information requested if there is a legal hold on the same records? My thought is that the information associated with the Open Records request is a copy of the original source documents. If we destroy the Open Records request (according to the retention schedule) we still have the original source documents to fulfill the hold on the records. Am I correct?
