Yes, in kindergarten, for talking during nap time.  We were then made to 
stand with our faces in the corner until nap time was over.

I also grew up in an era where it was perfectly acceptable for the 
principal or superintendent to administer "whacks", which prepared your 
for the harder ones when you got home.
