So much of this sounds like bullying that I just had to chime on this one....

Creating the bell curve actually encourages teachers to have to mark some students poorly. As I work with those who are helping to get rid of the review process and its mentalities, it has been brought to my attention the fundamentals here find their beginnings in (ancient) school traditions.

(I am sure most have seen Sir Ken Robinsons speech posted on YouTube about changing the paradigms in education by now.)

If the object is learning then it would behoove the teacher to customize each approach for each individual so they are achieving this goal. And we mark teacher (boss) on how effectively they got through to student (employee).  Any teacher (Supervisor) using bullying techniques will never get the very best out of their protégés - ever!

Sorry so many had to learn the hard way.  A good thing is it made a stronger, nicer and more patient generation.
