Molly,
I'm afraid I don't have an example of a digitization strategic plan, but
if you think on the strategic level, you can work out your own plan:
1. Align with Your Organization's Strategic Plan - What the heck does that
mean? Well, get a copy of your organization's 5 year plan. Determine and
articulate how your digitization program will support your organization's
overall plan. Don't hesitate to engage the folks in your org who work on
this level of planning.
2. Build out your program's infrastructure - Say what? Well where exactly
do you want your program to be in 5 years? Okay, now what facilities,
equipment, staff, departmental organization will you need to acquire to
get there? Envision and list realistically what you can acquire
successively in each of those 5 years to "build out" your program to get
to that. 2015, 2016, etc.
3. Target record types, collections, departments - Develop criteria for
what should and should not be digitized. Target/define record series and
departmental collections that fit that criteria. Again, a 5 year
successive incremental schedule of which collections you'll digitize this
year, next, next, including pilot.
If you cannot find a strategic plan specific to digitization, info and
examples on strategic plans in general will help.
Good luck,
Gary
