I prefer spears because the chips end up being vaguely dill-flavored fried
bread chunks IMO.
Last year I did a batch of bacon-wrapped fried pickle spears....

and since my daughter doesn't like pickles, I did some beer-battered
deep-fried bacon for her. NOT for the faint, or weak, of heart!
