Aloha RM Listserv Friends!

Thank you for everyone who has supported my "ride" in the ADA Hawaii Tour de Cure bike ride on November 1st...

As many of you know, I am "passionate" (e.g. ARMA & RIM) about a lot of things and I will give 120% to those "causes". Likewise, I am passionate about the Tour de Cure, because we are fighting an epidemic which is prevalent in America. There was a recent article in USA Today which stated that "diabetes is an epidemic" in America with as many as 1 out of 2 people diagnosed with pre-diabetes or Type 1 or 2. Unfortunately, I am a Type 2 diabetic, so I constantly have to fight the disease and I need your support...

I am issuing a "challenge" to all my RIM colleagues to "make me ride" 75 miles in the Tour de Cure...I've never biked 75 miles and it will be a challenge for me to do so because of my condition and staying hydrated. However, I am willing to meet that challenge if I exceed $2000 in support of my ride. I am already past the $1,000 mark for fundraising due to the generous support I've received...For those of you wanting some "sweat equity", now's your chance to make me sweat. :-)

I'm not asking for "big bucks", so I'd appreciate ANY support you're willing to provide...If everyone donated $6 to my ride, it will give recognition to the 600,000 people (1 out of 3) in Hawaii that have pre-diabetes or beyond. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of others and hopefully, future generations by defeating this disease...

Find out more about my personal story at: http://main.diabetes.org/site/TR?px=8675468&fr_id=10170&pg=personal and it will provide you with the opportunity to donate to my cause...

Hurricane Joaquin or not, I hope to see some of you in DC...If you should have any questions about the Tour de Cure, I'll be open to "personally" discuss it with you.

Much Mahalos!

Brian
