Fred, I am not going to go pop psychiatrist on you for your final comment! But as for putting ephemeral password information in a safe deposit vault as several have suggested, remember that you will be changing those passwords with greater frequency than you would want to go to the bank to update the list. If that list isn't as handy as your digital device it won't get updated and then you still have a problem.

One solution is the email address associated with the accounts. Most accounts such as Apple and Google, for example, will email a new password to your email on file if you forget it. Make sure to point all of those accounts to a single email account and provide that access to your loved ones along with a list of the accounts. Then, if you get hit by a bus, they can go in and reset the passwords using your email. Be sure to include in the original list any special issues such as challenge questions.

You will have to keep them updated on the email account password. Such is life (and apparently death).
