Hi Fred,

Right now I am using Preflight built into Adobe Acrobat X Pro.  Have you experienced issues with the reliability of the validation?  This is our first foray into PDF/A, and we are focused on creating our standards for scanned electronic copies of our Board Minutes and Resolutions.  Eventually we will branch out and require PDF/A for other documents that have a long-term preservation requirement.

It looks like I certainly need to do a bit more research here, and I appreciate you pointing out the newer specification.  I noticed there was another standard A-3, which had one additional feature - embedded files.  Any reason why you aren't using this level?

Also, I would greatly appreciate any resources you or the list find helpful when making decisions regarding preservation formats.
