Please join the ARMA NOVA Chapter for our January 2017 meeting. Our speaker
is Jason R. Baron, Esq. (Of Counsel, Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP; Co-chair,
Information Governance Initiative), and his topic is "Preparing for a
Presidential Transition."

As the nation prepares for a new presidential administration, records
managers at NARA are undergoing a quiet but tremendous effort to prepare for
the transition. Transitions often have been the subject of legal actions or
investigations as well. Jason R. Baron, Esq., former Director of Litigation
for NARA, will share his “insider” perspective on past presidential
transition lawsuits and controversies -- dating back to the filing of the
temporary restraining order in Armstrong v. Executive Office of the
President on the last day of the Reagan Administration. Other topics Jason
promises to discuss include: the infamous “Bush-Wilson” agreement between
President George H.W. Bush and Archivist of the United States Don Wilson in
1993; the “Filegate” Privacy Act lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, involving
allegations of missing Clinton-era White House e-mail, and the subsequent
George W. Bush White House missing email controversy. Jason may also have
something to say about the role e-mail played in the last election. This
promises to be a very lively evening!
