Katie,

You have received some exceptional advice.  Management would be investing in your 
certification to fill current or future gaps in the archives program if they sponsored your CA.  
Further, if gaps in your program exist, do you need to become certified to fill those gaps or 
manage them once filled?  Further, if you feel the need to have to sell management, perhaps 
investing in the certification yourself is the best way to go.
