A recent Stanford study found that many college history majors struggle to assess evidence about past events. There are many other elements that affect assessment of written and oral evidence. And even reputable academic historians sometimes disagree about interpretations, although they share common research methodologies. Because records play an important role in assessing what happened, how, and why, the work you do as RMs is an important part of historical and civic literacy.
