I received the following update from one of my subscriptions, regarding EU privacy rules.
There are training courses offered in UK for implementing compliant data transfer practices.

New EU model clauses now in force

The new 'model clauses' governing the exporting of personal data outside of the European Economic Area are now in force. The new documents update one of the ways in which data can leave the EEA without contravening the DPA (the Eighth Principle, which prohibits outside transfers unless 'adequate safeguards' are in place). The new clauses, published in February, came into force on 15th May. Eduardo Ustaran, Partner at Field Fisher Waterhouse and leader of PDP's training course in International Transfers (see below), said " the most sophisticated organisations are likely to move away from the standard contractual clauses and explore other more suitable solutions." An article by Mr Ustaran examining the model clauses features in Privacy & Data Protection, Volume 10, Issue 4.

overseas employees?  What about retention requirements for overseas
employees whose emails reside domestically?  Any thoughts?
