Why are the Royal Family Exempt from the Freedom Of Information Act? | Neon
Nettle

According to The Telegraph, the Royal family is exempt from having to
release information because it is not regarded as a public authority.
However Freedom of Information campaigners have long argued that the
exemption is unusual because after all, the monarchy is central to the UK’s
system of government and is funded by the public.

The Government implemented the plan for "added protection" for the Royal
Family in the small print of plans called "opening up public bodies to
public scrutiny".
