We also use a modified schedule of 9/80 for "support organizations" like RM, while our field workers work 4/10. Our business is environmental restoration of a Dept of Energy site, which in simple terms is basically construction. With such a large portion of our workforce in the field, it cuts down on the daily "pre-job briefings", shift turnover briefings, "dress out" requirements for working in contaminated areas, etc. They also rotate the off day, so there are actually people working at least 50 hours a week in the field.

There is always a debate on loss of productivity, and this schedule gets reviewed about every other year or so with that subject being rehashed. It's up for management review as we speak ~~~ it's great for the workers, they all love it.

Subject: 4 day work week

Can anyone give me good examples of how/why a 4 day work week would be a good idea,as compared to a normal 40 hour 5 day week? I'm thinking of this change and need to present a good argument to management.
