PRONOM at http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/PRONOM/default.htm is a resource for anyone requiring impartial and definitive technical
information about the file formats used to store electronic records, and
the software products that are required to create, render, or migrate
these formats.
Had a quick look, seems pretty embryonic but potentially useful. They
don't for example list wpk or wp1, but do have wpg. Add it to your
bookmarks.
