NBS Handbook 96 was part of the foundation for MS45 when it was originally
developed in the 1980s (I was the chair of the sub-committee that developed
MS45) but MS45 includes more than just redox blemishes. ISO 12031
Micrographics -- Inspection of silver-gelatin microforms for evidence of
deterioration is basically the international updated version of MS45.

Subject: question for microfilm technical folks

This is a microfilm technical question that I'm hoping maybe someone can
help me with.

Is there a significant...or any difference between the following microfilm
inspection standards?

1. National Bureau of Standards Handbook 96, Inpsection of Processed
Photographic Record Films for Aging Blemishes

and

2. American National Standard for Information and Management/Recommended
Practice for inspection of stored silver-gelatin microforms for evidence of
deterioration, ANSI-AIIM MS45-1990.

Thanks in advance for anyone's help on this.
