 Marian,
We did this research last year and came up with the following
retentions:
Application Documentation - Until superseded (retain last 5 versions)
SW Source Code- R&D 26 years, other IS areas 3 years
System Technical Administration- this information changes constantly in
our environment, therefore the information is updated through our
disaster recovery plans which fall under the superseded (retain the last
5 versions).
I hope this helps.
Thanks,

Subject: Records Retention of IT / IS Records

Hi Everyone,

I am in the process of updating my company's records retention schedule
and am looking for some feedback on how long other
companies/organizations retain Information Technology (IT) / Information
Systems (IS) records such as:

Application Documentation - Records documenting the development of
functionality and architecture of internal computer systems and
applications.

Source Code - Records related to source code for company-owned software
used internally by employees.

System Technical Administration - Information used to provide details
and history of the internal technical environment.

I would appreciate your feedback. Thanks for your assistance.
