I am revising our retention schedule. I am currently trying to locate information regarding the retention of bankruptcy files. The NC Bar Association web page states a minimum of six years after closing the files. The book, Records Management in the Legal Environment lists seven years after the bankruptcy case has closed.
I would appreciate it if anyone might share other guidelines for retaining bankruptcy cases.
