The retetion period for backup tapes is
Until superceded or no longer needed
Get a letter from your Counsel and move on with your life.
Some things to pay attention to.
1) can the tapes be read/loaded. Don't ignore this test thtem you would be
surprised how often backups won't run.
2) where is the software in the cycle. Make sure the backups are migrated
forward when you upgrade
3) where is the hardwware in the cycle. ibid
4)An annual letter of renewal from Counsel's office on renewing the hold.
ARMA has an excellent resource for hold on E-discovery. Was it Arfeld?
something like that. The Lawyers liberated from me.

My Corporate Council wants to keep back up tapes until further notice
because of a law suit. Does anyone know of any organization doing this?
Or can anyone tell me of a known retention period for back up tapes?
