4/20/2006 Criminals Use Construction Crane to Steal Tax Inspectors’ Archives

A whole railway container of archive papers was stolen from the Federal Tax 
Service office in the centre of Moscow early Wednesday, RBC news reported.

To move it, criminals used a construction crane, the police say. An 
investigation is in progress.

Getting rid of tax inspectors’ archives is a popular way of concealing 
financial crimes, though the papers are usually set on fire, not stolen. 
Back in 2004, a fire in the Arbitration Court of Moscow destroyed more than 
100 case files, though an investigation failed to prove it was arson.
