Hi Ray,

Do you thing Mail should be a part of Records Management?
NO

What are your opinions of this?
Well ususally I am fairly shy about sharing my opinion on things but...

Just a hunch but I would guess that some orgs. with older RM programs might
have the mail room as part of their operation. Probably made good sense then
and if it works I see no reason to mess it up. If ya got a choice I would
treat it like any other operation within RM. Makes good sense at times to
bring up Forms Management or Process Management up under Records (We are
such talented folks). It does not mean that it makes sense for them to stay
there. These are disciplines unto themselves. How many letters do you need
after your name anyway (oops, LOL). The level of knowledge we should have?
Well, probably about as much as you have on polymorhism and email. It is
important that you understand the concepts and the direct impact to the org,
how you can help, be able to step up if needed but, ya don't gotta be a geek
so...

Is Mail a part of what a records manager should do??
NO
