Greenspan

Says Sarbanes-Oxley is Too Much of a Productivity Drain
Ever since this legislation was passed, the business and technology
community alike has been debating the value of compliance against the drain
on productivity. Now that he's out of office, Greenspan apparently feels
free to express his lack of "exuberance" for Sarbanes-Oxley, which from an
IT perspective has given rise to a multi-billion dollar compliance

consulting industry. But CIO Insight Editor Ed Cone argues in a blog post
<http://ct.enews.eweek.com/rd/cts?d=186-4529-49-642-953253-525551-0-0-0-1>
that Greenspan's comments are a little irrational given the better
downstream governance benefits brought about by SOX compliance.

This isn't the first time I've heard of someone criticizing SARBOX as not
providing enough benefit for the amount of time, effort, energy and money
that it takes to comply.

I am a Records Management Consultant, and I'm wondering if it's time to look
for a new line of work. I doubt that SARBOX will go away anytime real soon,
but if the anti SARBOX "movement" gains momentum, this arena may not be as
lucrative in a few years as it is now.

I'd be interested in hearing feedback from others that subscribe to this
list.
