Corporate Records Coordinator 

Corporate Services Department

Municipality of Wood Buffalo - Ft. McMurray Alberta Canada (Oil Sands
Capital of the World!)

 

This is a permanent, full-time position working thirty-five (35) hours per
week.

 

Reporting to the Corporate FOIP/Records Administrator, you will be
responsible for the development, implementation and continuous improvement
of records management systems for the municipality. You will ensure that all
recorded information in the municipality is managed to meet operational
business needs, legislative requirements and citizens'
expectations.

 

Your specific responsibilities will include:

* Analyzing municipal business functions to develop a new records
taxonomy/classification system for incorporation into an electronic
information management system. 

* Developing a records retention bylaw for the new records classification
system and coordinating its review and approval. 

* Coordinating the installation and implementation of a corporate wide
records management software product (GAIN) to manage hardcopy records. 

* Coordinating the conversion of all hardcopy records to the new records
classification system by recruiting and training temporary staff. 

* Coordinating the ongoing storage, retrieval and destruction of records. 

* Providing ad-hoc records management training, consulting and advisory
services to staff. 

* Assisting the Corporate FOIP/Records Administrator in policy and procedure
development. 

 

Qualifications: 

* Grade twelve (12) diploma. 

* University or College certificate in records management or a
degree/diploma in a related field (library science or information access and
privacy) desirable or courses in records management or related training.
(Example: Government of Alberta information management
courses) 

* Minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in records
management with a focus in analysis/design. 

* Consideration may be given to individuals who have an equivalent
combination of education, training and experience. 

* Preference will be given to individuals with records management experience
in municipal government or other government organizations. 

* Extensive knowledge of records and information management standards,
processes and terminology. 

* Strong analytical and research skills to design records classification
systems and retention policies. 

* Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills along with
demonstrated effective interpersonal skills. 

* Excellent planning, organizational, project management, problem solving
and decision making skills. 

* Knowledge or experience with records management software products. 

* In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. 

* Ability to lift boxed records averaging 30 pounds. 

 

 

Salary:$26.70 per hour (2007 Probationary rate)$29.46/hr - $31.67/hr
(2007 Permanent rates)
