Since I will be out of the office tomorrow I will get my Friday-type OT
posting in today.
I know exactly the emotions Jesse is experiencing with his infant
daughter; I was the same; very protective. My daughter (whom I raised),
is now 34 and turned out to be a much nicer person that I had any
reason to expect; she is a full time wife; mother of two little boys;
works full time; just finished her undergraduate degree (Bachelor of
Applied Science - Business); and is now in graduate school. The 5-year
old is taking judo classes; the 1-year old looks like he will be built
like a football player. I never had to get physical with or pull out
out the heavy armaments with any of her boyfriends; she had excellent
judgement in the boys she dated. A nice kid in my karate class had a
crush on her, he was handsome, intelligent, articulate; so I encouraged
her to go out with him. After her date she said she had a nice time,
but had absolutely no interest in him. After that I got out of the
boyfriend picking business.
When out in the desert I carry one of my .357 mags, and my .44 mag. My
oldest bro prefers my .40 Kahr when we are target shooting. My
preference, should it ever come to a home invasion situation, would be
my sawed off 12 gauge that is somewhat legal. I would much prefer that
nobody ever commit suicide by coming into my home uninvited.
Best regards, Steve

while a rifle is good for long-range, the preferred daughter protector
is one of these bad-boys

as I read somewhere years ago "the sound of a shotgun round being
jacked into place is the most distinctive sound in the world of
firearms"
and don't forget the camera to take a picture of the perp er a date.
when they ask why you're taking a photo just respond with "I need to
know what you look like when I have to track you down."
I'm sure Mr. Whitaker will be weighing in soon with his
recommendations.
