We have VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phone system at our agency with the ability to have what's called "unified messaging" where voicemail is sent to Outlook as an email with an audio file attachment. We can also get an email notification that we have voicemail (another potential legal issue).

Then there is whole Blackberry suit of issues.

Subject: [RM] Article on Voice mails stored as records.

A quote from the article says that "Stored voicemails represent a new,
potentially negative consequence during legal discovery. Most large
companies do not save or archive voicemail. But converted to e-mail,
these messages are likely to be stored and be subject to discovery."

I guess this would apply only to companies who choose to use the service
on Blackberries they have allowed employees to use, but it presents
another type of record maybe with juicy tidbits of personal
conversations sprinkled in.
